If you’re a North Carolina native—or just a lover of good barbecue—you know that finding the perfect pit isn’t easy. Enter Big Tiny’s in historic downtown Mooresville. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the rich aroma of hickory smoke, stacks of hickory pellets, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that blends historic charm with modern touches. The exposed brick walls and old-school Main Street vibe make this a place that feels both authentic and timeless.

When it comes to the food, Big Tiny’s doesn’t disappoint. We kicked things off with the classic sides: potato salad, baked beans, and Brunswick stew. The potato salad brought a nostalgic southern creaminess, complemented by just the right amount of relish and mustard. The baked beans leaned into the owner’s Texas roots, with a smoky, chili-inspired flavor that paired perfectly with the barbecue.

And then, the meats. The ribs were cooked perfectly, tender but not falling apart, leaving you able to bite cleanly off the bone. The brisket, served in both lean and fatty cuts, was juicy and smoky, though we noted the rub could have shined a bit more. The star, however, was the pulled pork—smoky, tender, and packed with flavor. Paired with both Lexington red and Eastern vinegar sauces, it was a true standout in the Carolina barbecue tradition.

Big Tiny’s is a must-visit if you’re in the Mooresville area, offering a balance of historic charm and authentic North Carolina barbecue flavors. With plenty of portions to take home, it’s perfect for both casual diners and die-hard barbecue fans.
